Ultimate Hawker Fest - Ah Hood Burgers with Chef Melvin Lim from Ramada Inn

For this year's Ultimate Hawker Fest 2014, Chef Melvin Lim, who helms Flavours at Ramada Inn, is coming up with not one, but two special versions of his signature Ah Hood Burgers.

These 2 "ultimate" burgers are actually enhanced kong ba baos in disguise. And what a fabulous disguises they are!

Chef Melvin has been wrecking his brains for the past month or so to come up with something specifically for the hawker event.

After weeks of trial and error, he is beyond excited to present his two new creations for the general public to savour and enjoy. And it is only for the hawker fest, so it will be a one day only exclusive.

Salted Egg Yolk Lobster Crab Cake with Curry Mayonnaise

The first of this Ah Hood Burger is this tantalising sounding Salted Egg Yolk Lobster Crab Cake with Curry Mayonnaise Ah Hood Burger. Yes, it's a mouthful to say but what matters is how good it tastes. I had a preview of this this and I can tell you now, it's every bit as good as it sounds.

A crisp exterior to the flavoursome crab cake, coupled with the spicy richness of the curry mayonnaise it just about the perfect flavour combination. Full of crunch, and enveloped by the boa, it is full of flavours and textures. I doubt you will stop at one.

Black Pepper Beef Ah Hood Burger

As for the second one, it may not look as colourful or visually striking but it still packs a punch in the flavours department. In fact, it actually resembles closer to a regular kong ba bao. Chef Melvin has elected to use a good angus cut for the meat and it shows.

Coated with a tasty and aromatic black pepper sauce, it takes a spin on the classic steak and starch combination and it still works beautifully. I like how juicy and moist Chef Melvin has done with the beef and though it may be simple, it is ultimately addictive.

Both burgers will be available at this coming hawker fest at Suntec City Expo Halls 401 and 402 on the 22nd November 2014, starting from 11am till 5pm.
