Silver Food News - Feng Shui Inn and Kuishin Bo

Saturday is here, and dim sum fans should take this opportunity to enjoy this special SG50 promotion which ends today at Feng Shui Inn at RWS.

It is a special dim sum buffet priced at, what else, $50 nett per head. It consists of about 20 Cantonese dishes and dim sum plates.

You will get to enjoy a range of classic dim sum dishes like har gao siew mai, along with some more unique twists.

One dim sum that stands out is this refreshing bird's nest egg custard tart. It may seem a bit strange at first, but after a couple of bites, it seems right at home to have the extra texture of the clear bird's nest to compliment the more rich, creamy layer of egg custard.

Salted Egg Yolk Yam Pastries

Another highlight is the salted egg yolk yam pastries. The typical deep fried yam pastries is usually a hit among the younger ones, but I tend to find it too much to eat at one go. This version, with an oozy and rich salted egg yolk sauce in the middle feels just right at home for this older palate.

That extra touch of creamy richness makes it so much easier to go with the deep fried exterior and coupled with the starchy yam, the eggy coating is just too addictive.

Other highlights include the salted egg yolk fried with bitter gourd and that is just so good. The savouriness manages to match perfectly with the slightly sweet and bitter nature of the bitter gourd.

All in all, the price for this promotion is certainly more than value for money. So hurry down today to take advantage of the last day of this great promotion!

Seafood Selections

Kuishin Bo has been one of the longest mainstays for Japanese Buffet in Singapore, and it continues to serve up value for money sets every day. What sets them apart, from the comfortable price range, is also their variety.

They have a quarterly thematic food fair theme and from now until September, they are featuring fare from the regions of Kyushu and Okinawa.

Okinawa Noodles

The Okinawa Noodles, or soba is not your typical buckwheat noodles served cold with soya sauce. Rather, it is actually akin to a warm bowl of noodles in a very delicious and comforting broth. It is simple yet dangerously effective and best on a cold, wintery night.

The ginseng porridge deserves some mention too as the tender hints of ginger infused into the nicely cooked porridge gives it a hit of refreshing tones and yet, it never threatens to overpower the entire dish. Another tasty and comforting item to go for here.

In addition, there is also a kid's section with food specially catered to that generation. And one of the unique things about attending this buffet is that they have an hourly special where you will have to run for when the gong strikes, as it is rather limited. But it is all good fun and makes for some break for the usual norm.
